New stuff

10. Feb: Social Network?

It's disturbing how in our world
people can be directly at our hand,
just a single double click away,
yet still are out of reach.

Because no matter how well the internet can connect people: Some things have to be said in person to be meaningful.

20. Oct: Sometimes

Sometimes a tiny step forward
can make a huge difference.
A small action taken,
a single smile given,
a simple word said,
maybe seemingly insignificant,
that changes your world.

Sometimes you have to take
one giant leap,
leaving your environment behind,
leaving what you know,
leaving for alien territory,
just to stay where you are,
true to yourself and your beliefs.

Sometimes you will find that
the decision made
which you took the hardest,
which you doubted the most,
which you delayed the longest
should have been
the easiest to make.

11. Oct: About Love

Love is like a roses blossom:
To be unrolled leaf by leaf.
Should you try to shorten the way
and go directly for its core,
your approach will destroy its fragile leaves
and none will remain to be loved anymore.

24. Sep: Enlightened Night

Sep 24th 2010 18:30 UTC

I'm on my way, a traveller
in the dark night lightning strikes.
In deep amaze and awe I stare
at the silver glistening spikes.

And sitting, watching closely where
the storm approaches near,
I in my heart wish I could share
with you this sight my dear.

I'm currently sitting in a bus from Berlin to Hamburg to attend PHPUC 2010, when all of a sudden a few flashes diverted my attention from my book.

Granted - lights are not uncommon on German highways at 21:30 (local time), but these were just too bright, so i looked outside to watch some of those impressive lightning strikes you see only on pictures most of the time and as I often do during a hard thunderstorm, i think about how great it would be to be inmidst a violent thunderstorm, safely and warmy tucked in your car standing somewhere on a field. Just you, your significant other; the sound of enourmous drops of rain on the roof, a bit of howling when the wind vividly traces the contours of your steelen mobile retreat; beneath a dark sky that even the blinding sparks of lightning can only compromise to a dark shade of gray.

Experiencing this full destructive force of nature on the outside, contrasting it with the most awesome force capable of creation known to mankind in the interior.

One day I'll definitely do this.

But for now it's 22:00 and I'm still two hours away from Hamburg.

17. Sep: Die Brauerei im Limerick

Im Eschenbräu bei gutem Bier,
den Durst löschen unser Begier.
Ein frisches vom Fass
voll köstlichem Nass:
Genau dafür sitzen wir hier.

06. Sep: Nightly Thoughts

A cold and silent autumn night
and both of us within.
Some tiny rays of shimmering light
draw sprinkles on your skin.
One - just one - sound stirs the peace:
Your warm breath on my face.
And in your sleep I pull you close;
rest safe in my embrace.

01. Sep: Wasted Times?

To count the stars beneath the sky seems quite a useless task;
so from the logics point of view, I savvy if you ask:
"Why do you waste your time tonight with what you try to do?"
My dear, this time goes not to waste: It's time I spend with you.

15. Aug: CMS and fluent layout

From now on SlashLife.org will use a CMS (I chose to install Contao) and for this occasion I changed the layout to be independent of the browser size. Seems that I dropped support for MSIE up to 7 at the same time. Well, shit happens. And with those browsers gone, probably less shit will happen in the future.

In any case ... hope you'll like it. I will now deepen my knowledge about jQuery, so maybe I will soon introduce a few more knobs and tweaks besides the moving header image.

Having a CMS in place will need to be gotten used to, but in any case with this I have one less excuse for not updating the page. :)
